Rudolf Steiner School (“Steiner”), an independent nursery to 12 school and the first Waldorf School in North America, is located on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Rudolf Steiner School seeks a versatile colleague to teach in grades 6-12. An ideal candidate would teach Information Science courses (including research methods and computer programming) and mathematics at a variety of levels and would help care for the school library.
Strong candidates will possess a degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related science, and will have upper school teaching experience, ideally in a Waldorf school. Our department includes experienced mentor-teachers and in-house professional development opportunities; this position could be the right fit for an enthusiastic early-career teacher. As members of the Upper School faculty, teachers have the opportunity to work collaboratively with one another on a daily basis and in regular departmental, area, and all-school meetings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clear communication with students, colleagues, and parents
- Teach curriculum focused on developmentally appropriate education
- Create and plan lessons and activities encouraging enthusiastic learning, intellectual growth, self-esteem, and social responsibility
- Create assignments and assess student progress
- Collaborate with teachers and parents
- Lead discussions, demonstrations, and other in-class activities
