Hiring: Teacher for local educational cooperative
Greenwood Tree Educational Co-op | Burlington, WA | 2021-2022
Greenwood Tree (GWT) is a Waldorf-inspired educational cooperative in the rich farming community of the Skagit Valley in Washington State. Our vibrant program is expanding and welcoming community that stands in integrity with their own health choices. GWT seeks a caring, dedicated, and experienced individual to lead a grades class and collaborate with colleagues to carry various specialty and block schedule programming. The ideal candidate will participate in the life of the cooperative and uphold the mission, vision, and values of GWT. She or he will support and help develop the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive well-being of the students, as well as regularly assess and communicate with the parents on student learning.
Teachers at GWT:
• Develop and implement Waldorf-inspired curriculum appropriate for the grade.
• Manage the classroom positively and effectively.
• Teach daily lesson plans.
• Meet with parents as needed.
• Attend weekly faculty meetings.
• Participate in seasonal weekday/weekend festivals.
• Support and promote occasional, yearly outreach and fundraising events.
Preferred qualifications:
• A BA, college equivalent degree, education and experience in Waldorf pedagogy, and/or a willingness to become trained and mentored to Waldorf pedagogy.
• Ability to work in a cooperative setting with parents and colleagues.
• A willing interest to engage in ongoing self-reflection and conversations regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion in our classrooms, community, and Waldorf education.
• Demonstrated understanding of childhood development.
• Clear communication skills, written and verbal.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the impact of chronic stress, trauma, and adverse childhood events on children’s mental health, well-being, and ability to learn.
Further details
• Three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).
• Salary is $20 – $25 per hour depending upon experience.
• Position is open until filled.
