Join our Growing Kindergarten! Welcome to Miami!

Sunrise School of Miami is seeking a warm, dynamic, creative, and nurturing, part-time or full-time Kindergarten Assistant to join our community. Might it be you?
We are ideally located on a tropical, 6-acre, treed campus, a quarter-mile from Biscayne Bay which offers some of the best sailing in the world. When our Kindergarteners play outside, their excited voices blend with wild macaws’ and parrots’ raucous calls. Our 1st – 4th graders play in a stately live oak tree stand’s dappled shade. Fifth graders practice for the Pentathlon outdoors, in South Florida’s year-round warmth, while Middle Schoolers grow papayas and passion fruit in the school garden and cycle a mile to a citizen-based plant and animal species research project at Deering Estate, a stunning ecological treasure on Biscayne Bay. Most school plays are staged in a lovely outdoor coral rock amphitheater on campus.
Our talented faculty of almost 20 experienced teachers nurtures an environment of warmth, collaboration, and joyful collegiality. Our dedicated Subject teachers provide Spanish and Mandarin language, woodworking, movement, chorus, handwork, orchestra, and gardening instruction. Our parents are supportive and involved in many facets of the school, including active participation in festivals and creating items for our school store.
We value teachers who enjoy nurturing healthy relationships with parents, students, and colleagues. We seek candidates with excellent teaching, classroom management, and communication skills and a deep understanding of students and their development.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, creative, artistic, collaborative, knowledgeable of and committed to Waldorf education and Anthroposophy. South Florida’s mix of cultures and languages make miami an adventurous place to live, play, and work! We welcome you to join us.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. We are seeking someone who has prior teaching experience (ideally in a Waldorf school) as well as completion of, or current enrollment in, Waldorf teacher training. Student teachers in training are encouraged to apply as well.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including support for professional development.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and names and contact information of three professional references, to Esther Rodrigues at employment@sunriseschoolofmiami.org
