In the heart of Columbia, PA - quiet, yet large - sits the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families, a program of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health that unleashes the potential and power within children (and their families) in the Lancaster Community. Working through peaceful engagements, playful fun and fantastical food, the school nurtures each child as they grow and develop, building the foundations for a life of joyful learning and exploration.
The school welcomed our first children and families in March 2021. Now as we begin our next phase of development, CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health and the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families is seeking a passionate and creative candidate to shepherd the School and our team along its journey to being a Waldorf-inspired nursery and early learning center as the Director of the St. John Neumann School.
Responsibilities of the Director of the St. John Neumann School for Children & Families include:
Monitoring program to maintain a quality day-to-day operation
Ensuring that the facility conforms with Pennsylvania licensing standards and regulations
Employing qualified staff and volunteers who meet all required training and safety requirements for participation in programs involving children.
Orienting new staff and volunteers to their specific job duties and the Waldorf-inspired philosophies at the heart of the program,Center-based and Organization policies and procedures.
Assigning staff responsibilities and coordinate scheduling for staff in accordance for the needs of the School and Pennsylvania childcare regulations.
Identifying and scheduling appropriate professional development opportunities for staff
Maintaining an environment in which staff members are fully engaged and have the opportunity to reach their full potential
Developing and executing an ongoing program of activities that contribute to the care, growth and development of the children, families and employees
Ensuring that classrooms, common rooms and restrooms are kept safe, clean and in proper working order
Ordering supplies as needed in accordance with CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health purchasing procedure.
Overseeing the food services program to assure appropriate preparation of meals, snacks and nutritional programming in coordination with the Manager of Food Service and Nutrition
Supervising the record keeping for the center, including center records, children’s records and staff records in conjunction with the Manager of Family Engagement
Coordinating the enrollment process for children and families in collaboration with the Manager of Family Engagement
Collecting all appropriate fees and tuition payments in accordance with St. John Neumann School Policies and fee schedules
Ensuring that the school consistently achieves desired enrollment levels and maintains and manages a waiting list for filling positions for new students as they become open
Developing and maintaining appropriate contact with parents, guardians and families
Serving as the liaison between the School and Pennsylvania regulatory authorities. requirements
Qualified candidate will possess the following education and experience:
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
3 to 5 years of experience in early childhood education center leadership preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
