5th- 12th Grade Student Counselor for 2021-22 SY

The Emerson Waldorf School is seeking a Full-Time School Counselor to implement a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses personal/social development for all students through building trusting relationships with students, provides short-term social/emotional support and counseling referrals for students, and facilitates crisis intervention when necessary.
The school counselor will also:
- be able to use appropriate assessment and diagnostic procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services
- follow up individual and group counseling to monitor student progress
demonstrate knowledge of consulting processes and techniques with students, parents/guardians, and teachers
- assist parents/guardians and teachers in understanding and responding to social/emotional needs of students
- present instructional/informational program to groups of students, parents/guardians, and teachers
- assist with coordination of student services in the school
- follow the laws, policies, and procedures which govern school programs
- adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession and take part in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
The school counselor will report directly to the EWS Director of Pedagogy and Administration. This position is open for the 2021-2022 school year.
Qualification: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a counseling program; current North Carolina counseling license.
Preference: Previous counseling experience with middle school and high school students.
Salary and Benefits: The salary range is commensurate with experience. The benefits package includes medical insurance. Tuition remission is provided for full-time faculty/staff children.
