Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm in the Santa Rosa / Sebastopol area is seeking a Spanish teacher for Lower School and High School.

The ideal candidate speaks fluent Spanish and is able to carry the lessons entirely in Spanish. Experience teaching other subjects is a bonus. He/she will follow the indicated content guidelines for the curriculum at Summerfield. Experience in Waldorf teaching, or interest in learning Waldorf pedagogy a bonus. The faculty and staff at Summerfield have a commitment to faculty/staff-led governance so that we act in full freedom toward forming a culture of initiative and mutual support. At Summerfield, we teach 300 students aged 3-18 on a 38-acre campus which includes a biodynamic farm, nature preserve, circus tent and new Art/Tech facility. This is a dynamic time to be joining the faculty at Summerfield. In response to the pandemic, we radically altered our schedule and teaching in order to maximize our ability to continue teaching experientially and in person, and all classes offered at school have been taught outside all day. As we plan a new year, these recent experiences have opened new possibilities for working with the land, each other and this moment. We are asking big questions and seeking a colleague who is inspired to join us in asking of the future "what wills to happen?" and then collaborate our way into the answer(s).

Physical Requirements for Employees at SWSF:
Summerfield is both a school and farm. Though we do have paved pathways between various buildings, many pathways are unpaved and rough. Some have steep inclines and declines, steps and holes. Employees must have the ability to:
Stand and walk on various-density and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time and significant lengths;
Sit for extended periods of time, both in chairs and on the floor;
Use a computer for extended periods of time;
Squat, stoop and/or bend over;
Reach overhead, grasp, push/pull up to 35 pounds for short distances;
Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. at waist height for short distances.
