LifeWays Childcare Society in North Vancouver, BC, Canada is looking for a manager to be a part of our team. We have been offering exemplary care for children, ages 1-5 for over 17 years, caring for 16 children daily with 4 staff on duty each day.
Requirements: ECE license, LifeWays training is a plus, love of home and gardening
Families who have children attending feel very lucky to have such a warm, home-like atmosphere where children's creativity and freedom to play happens every day. We pay a lot of attention to the connection with each child and respecting each voice. Staff camaraderie is very important as the children imitate how we are together.
Each day food is harvested from the garden and all meals are prepared together with organic ingredients. Besides veggies, there are 24 apple trees out front, raspberries, and fennel to snack on. The children are always eating!
LifeWays has a rhythm of each day, creating security of what comes next. Within that, there is a lot of time to explore ideas and social interaction. The staff roles are to guide the day and be attentive to needs in the moment, adding to expressions and difficulties.
Manager’s duties:
Some hours with the children can be adjusted with office work needs.
Responsible to assure all licensing regulations are followed, including updating policies and procedures, communicating with licensing officer
Scheduling staff and children
Enrollment and contracts
Upholding LifeWays Principles and Practices
Repairs and maintenance, including gardens
Working with the bookkeeper, overseeing budget
Member of the board of trustees, attend the annual meeting
