After School Care Teachers

Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for part-time teachers for our after school
extended-day program in both the Grades and Early Childhood for the 2021-22 school year.
Successful candidates will enthusiastically and energetically engage students and will work
collaboratively with other faculty and administrators to create an environment that is aligned with
the school’s mission.
Expected skills include and are not limited to:
● Abide by State of Oregon regulations for Childcare Certification including holding of
current Food Handler’s card, Infant and Child First Aid/CPR card and “Recognizing and
Reporting Child Abuse” certification; maintain enrolled status in Oregon Central
Background Registry, which includes a background check with fingerprinting. These are
requirements for this position and must be maintained by the employee at all times.
● At least one year experience working with a group of children.
● Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff.
● Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
● Reliable, punctual, well-organized and efficient.
● Some experience in storytelling, art, handwork, music and/or games.
Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through the Association of
Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). We serve students in Early Childhood through
12
th grade on a beautiful seven-acre campus. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, as well as a
middle and high school athletics program.
These positions are part-time and non-exempt. Pay rates range from $16-$20 per hour
depending on position and experience. Position works 20-25 hours per week; work schedule
varies Monday through Friday between 11:00am – 6:00pm. The work schedule follows the
school year, starting in September and ending in June. There is also an option of working during
school vacations when the school offers vacation camps for students (Thanksgiving break,
Winter break, February break, Spring break and Summer Camps). Benefits include paid sick
