Humanities and/or French teacher (Middle/High School)
Aug 31 2021 | Seeking | East Coast or Midwest
A certified French teacher in public middle and high schools in France since 1998 and an Anthroposophist since 1999, I have always wanted to teach in a Waldorf school in the United States. I have a good command of English and expect to take the TOEFL exam in the coming months in preparation for my move to the US next year (in August 2022). My hope is to relocate to the East Coast or the Midwest and to become part of a Waldorf learning community there. I deeply admire the principles of education that Rudolf Steiner set forth in his little book, The Education of the Child in the Light of the Spiritual Science, as well as in his many lectures on the subject. I have also participated in regular group work on the subject of education with fellow teachers and members of the First Class in Lausanne and Geneva (Switzerland), directed by François Gautier, one of the founders of the Rudolf Steiner School of Geneva. I hold a doctorate in French Literature and my main research interest is Romanticism and its spiritual insights, translated through myths and symbols. As an author, I published several books of poetry and fictional narratives (Poésies d'ombre pâle, Chants et conjurations, Songes de Btretagne). I believe that my knowledge of history, theology, philosophy, and literature would also make me a good fit for teaching the rich humanities curriculum in a Steiner high school. I am deeply motivated to become a member of the faculty in a Waldorf school in the US, whose literary tradition, from specific Romanticism (Hawthorne, Longfellow, Emerson, Thoreau) to Science Fiction (H. P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov, Stephen R. Donaldson), has always inspired me.
